This page lists what each deletion action removes, what it leaves, and who controls it. Use it when you set retention, remove a user, or ask what happens when a contract ends. Saga does not offer a per-user hard purge that erases one person’s data while the workspace stays active. Removing a user deactivates the account. It does not wipe that person’s history from the workspace.

Deletion actions

Workspace retention

Admins set retention in the admin panel under Data Retention. Unlimited is the default. With Unlimited, Saga does not delete activity on a schedule. The other values are 24 hours, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months. When retention will remove a chat soon, Saga shows an expiry warning on the chat. The warning starts 14 days before deletion for 3, 6, and 12 month settings, 7 days before for 1 month, 2 days before for 1 week, and at once for 24 hours. See Chat.

Removing a user does not erase their data

When a lawyer leaves the firm, an admin removes their account. Saga deactivates the account. The person cannot sign in. Their chats and projects stay with the account. If they return, an admin can reactivate the same account from Users in the admin panel. See Troubleshooting for returning colleagues. There is no product control that erases one user’s data while the workspace stays live.

When a contract ends

When a Saga contract ends, Saga deletes the tenant’s data within 60 days. Backups of that data are purged within 36 days. Platform logs are kept for 12 months. Contract-end deletion is workspace-wide. It is not a way to erase one user.
