Overview

The Saga Word add-in brings Saga’s AI into Microsoft Word. Instead of switching between Word and the browser, you can chat with the AI about the document you’re working on, run tasks like proofreading and summarization, and apply suggestions directly — all from a sidebar inside Word.

What you can do

The add-in opens as a task pane on the right side of Word. From there you have access to: Chat — Have a conversation with the AI about the document you’re editing. The AI automatically reads the current document as context, so you can ask questions about its content, request analysis, or draft new sections — without pasting anything manually. Prompt library — Open saved prompts from the add-in, filter by category, and star favorites for quick reuse — the same Personal / Organization / Saga Lab pools you have in web chat. Tasks — Run built-in tasks on the document or selected text:

• /proofread — check grammar, spelling, and style
• /anonymize — detect personal identifiers, let you review the types found, then apply redactions. You can come back later and continue from the same document.
• /summarize — generate a concise summary
• /compare — compare sections or versions
• /auto-fill — fill in Word templates from source documents (add-in only)

Footnote suggestions — When the AI references a source in its answer, it can return the citation as a Word footnote rather than inline text. Apply the suggestion and Saga inserts a properly formatted footnote at the cursor — no manual reference numbering. Improve prompt — Click the pen icon next to the input to have the AI rewrite your prompt for clearer, more targeted results before you send it. The same feature you have in chat, available without leaving Word. Answering modes — Control how the AI responds:

• Ask — the AI analyzes and answers without suggesting edits
• Suggest — the AI returns structured suggestions you can apply directly to the document
• Auto — the AI decides based on your request whether to analyze or suggest edits

When the AI returns suggestions in Suggest mode, you can review each one and apply it to the document with a click — no copy-pasting between tools.

On the platform

Project chats saved from the Word add-in show the Word logo in the project chat list and before the chat title. When you open a Word chat on the platform, a row under the answer shows the suggestions Saga made in Word, for example “3 suggestions in Word · 1 applied · 1 pending”. Click it to see each change and whether it was applied, dismissed, pending, or failed in Word. The platform view is read only. You apply suggestions in Word. While Saga is answering a chat in Word, the platform shows “Saga is answering this chat in Word” and holds the composer until the answer is done.
